PROGRAMS

Literacy Program

Every aspect of Children In Crisis (CIC) is devoted to enhancing the lives of children battling literacy and is absolutely free to every participant. During the school year, we will match elementary schools, middle schools and high schools with volunteers that will help them have a positive and successful educational experience in school. We have adopted a reading program for elementary and middle schools and established a reading club for high schools that will enhance the growth of the reading comprehension skills on an individual basis. Tutors will spend one on-one time with their reading buddies and volunteer time and talents with the school, which will help to bridge the gap between community and school. This will give our children a special, unforgettable experience. We will help each child have a successful year in his or her already stressful young lives.

Gangs of a Different Color

Children In Crisis (CIC) in collaborating with some established Athletic, Arts and Dance, organizations and will be creating in the coming months a drama club in order to give our youth and teens an outlet that dose not cost them or their parents anything to participate. CIC has come to realize that we are putting the price tag in the wrong area. We also feel that if we can get our youths and teens involved in our gang, they want have to pay the cost of getting in street gangs (THEIR LIVES).

Rite of Passage

This program was developed to enrich and direct the life changing experience of inner city youth.  It encourages boys and girls to think before making decisions that will change their lives.  The program focus is in three main areas:
