The
Challenge
We
recognize that today’s urban families face an increasingly difficult
struggle to survive and thrive amidst a myriad of social and economic
problems. These social and economic realities have potential implications
that we cannot afford to ignore. There are disturbing increases in the
incidence of family stress and crises (i.e. single parenting, parental
unemployment, and underemployment, insufficient childcare, drugs and alcohol
abuses, parental incarceration, teen pregnancy, and violence). The
proportion of children who are undereducated, underachieving, and involved
in criminal activities continues to grow at an alarming rate.
No
child has ever been—or will be turned away because of race, income,
disability, or any other reason. And, since volunteers will be available
for each student, every child will have the opportunity to succeed and have
a positive educational and social experience.
We have
embarked upon an ambiguous youth outreach project. The project is to playa major
role in helping to reduce the percentages of youth delinquency and gang
involvement and increase overall academics in inner-city Charlotte.
Our Vision
Is to
help combat youth delinquency and child care issues was established to respond
to academic and social needs of communities where 70% of children are from
single parent households and/or families with one income. We will offer children
a secure and safe environment while their parent's work, seek employment, or
receive skill training. It is our desire to help the entire family progress and
solidify their economic foundation, instilling self pride which translate into
civic responsibility.

Evaluation and
Assessment

We are committed to the integrity of Children In Crisis and the year-round
programming that we provide. Therefore, at the end of each school year and
once each quarter, we complete a professional programmatic evaluation
involving mostly formative analysis through feedback provided by the
children and families we serve. We also seek and receive feedback from the
principals, teachers, counselors and others who are involved with our
children so as to know better ways of serving their needs. However, we are
willing to provide other documents and implore alternative methods of
evaluation if necessary.
Your Part
VOLUNTEER
OPPORTUNITIES

There are many ways you
can help and one very important way is to give the gift of yourself. We
need adults who are committed to making a difference and are willing to give
their time, energy and talents to help a child succeed. Children In Crisis
can provide year-round programming with your help. If you would like to more
information about volunteer opportunities.
